Kunshan city
Only 50 km west of Shanghai, Kunshan was once a charming water city south of the Yangtze River. Due to its convenient location between Shanghai and
Suzhou and a systematic investment strategy of its government, Kunshan has turned into an international investment hub throughout the last years. Investors from 55 countries and regions have established over 3,500 projects in and around Kunshan. The total foreign investment exceeds USD 20 billion.
Kunshan’s close proximity to Shanghai clearly attracts businesses looking for lower costs near top consumer markets. Its foreign investment support services and excellent infrastructure, have gained Kunshan the recognition as one of the top investment spots in China by the Chinese government and international organizations such as the World Bank.
Formerly known as a Taiwanese investment hub, in recent years Kunshan has tried to attract other foreign companies as well. Already 50 German investment projects have been established in the city. In order to draw even more German enterprises to Kunshan, the German Industrial Park was founded three years ago.
